New Year treat for sitcom fans at The Lowry - Drop The Dead Donkey returns
THE original cast and writers behind the brilliant Channel 4 sitcom Drop The Dead Donkey have re-united for a stage version of the TV classic.
Many of the original cast are also in this production, at The Lowry from February 13-17. These include Stephen Tompkinson, Susannah Doyle, Victoria Wicks, Neil Pearson, Robert Duncan and Jeff Rawle, the wonderful George.
The production also reunites the original scriptwriters Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton in a show renowned for its hilarious topical bite and perennial battle of the egos.
The setting is a fictitious TV newsroom and my only regret is the cast won’t include the late David Swift, so good as the old school journalist Henry. His character’s spats with fellow newsreader Sally Smedley, played so well by Victoria Wicks, were comedy gold.
